Anyone interested in working with the National Meningitis Association to raise awareness of meninococcal disease and available methods of prevention is welcome to become a T.E.A.M. volunteer.
Below are some ways you can make a difference as a T.E.A.M.volunteer:
Disease Awareness Activities
Give a presentation about meningococcal disease or share your experience at school-based events (e.g., local PTA meetings, school assemblies, etc.)
Host a booth and distribute meningococcal disease educational materials at local events (e.g., back-to-school nights, health fairs, sporting events, community meetings, etc.)
Become active in meningococcal legislation efforts in your state (e.g., send a letter to a state senator, e-mail your congressperson, etc.)
Speak with your local and state public health departments to initiate public awareness campaigns and/or school mandates for meningococcal vaccination of adolescents and young adults
Encourage convenience stores, grocery stores and other retailers to display a jar of NMA meningitis awareness wristbands at their counter and make them available for a $1 donation to customers (proceeds from the jar can be used to support additional awareness activities in your community)
Enlist businesses to provide "in-kind" donations, such as gift certificates, tickets or merchandise, that can be auctioned off or utilized at upcoming local events to benefit NMA (funds can be used to support additional activities in your community)
Solicit corporations/companies to champion a corporate match program and contribute the same amount of money raised by their employees to support future meningococcal disease awareness programming (funds can be used to support additional activities in your community)
NMA has various materials available to support your volunteer activities, including brochures, meningococcal disease awareness bracelets and much more. Please click here to request NMA materials for your upcoming event.
