I have a 19 year old son fixing to move into a dorm for first year of college. I am concerned about him contracting meningitis and want to make certain he is vaccinated. My question is if he had the vaccine at 12 years old (I think he was required to have it before entering middle school, but I did not record it at the time and don’t remember) should I re-vaccinate? Would it be dangerous to re-vaccinate if in fact he did take the vaccine 7 years ago?
Marybeth Leeber Responds:
I wish the best for your son as he begins a new and exciting stage in his life. However, due to the medical nature of your question, I recommend that you contact your pediatrician or other qualified health care professional.
