How is Meningitis passed? Have the precautions been relaxed over the past 30 years ago?

Rating: +0

Positive Negative

Kathy Huddleson responds:

Meningococcal disease is transmitted through air droplets and direct contact with infected persons. For example, coughing and kissing. There is even more evidence in recent years that crowded living conditions, moving to a new residence, active or passive smoking, and irregular sleep patterns appear to be linked to the disease. The risks can be reduced by being immunized against meningococcal disease -- and, in addition, follow good hygiene practices, avoid cigarettes, eat a balanced diet, and get enough sleep and exercise.
