What are the symptoms in babies who contract menengitis?

Some of the most common symptoms of both viral and bacterial meningitis include fever, headache, vomiting, confusion or decreased level of consciousness, body aches, weakness, eye sensitivity, skin rash.

In babies, the signs of meningitis may be a fever, irritability that is difficult to calm, decreased appetite, rash, vomiting, and a shrill cry. Babies with meningitis may cry when handled. For more specific information regarding babies, please contact your medical provider.
