how long is the menactra vaccine good for

Olga Pasick responds:

Duration of protection of Menactra is believed to be about 8 years, but studies are not complete yet. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends meningococcal vaccination for all adolescents 11 through 18 years of age. At present, these recommendations do not address revaccination or booster. The CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) regularly reviews available data and makes immunization recommendations as appropriate. If the Committee addresses revaccination in the future, NMA will share this information on its Web site.
