NMA Takes on the NYC Marathon!

Michael LaForgia, Meningococcemia survivor, to run NYC Marathon on November 1st

Mike LaForgia, meningicoccal survivor, NMA Advisory Board and T.E.A.M member, has begun training to run the world famous New York City marathon on November 1, 2009. It will be Mike's first marathon as an amputee (Below Knee (right)/Transmetatarsal (left)). Prior to contracting meningococcemia in December of 2004 he ran the NYC Marathon that year and one previous time in 2002. Michael’s goal is to run faster then he did as an able-bodied runner, hopefully completing the race in under 4hr and 55 min. Michael will be running the race in honor of those impacted by bacterial meningitis (meningococcemia), those who have lost their lives and fellow survivors. Mike asks you to support him in the race and the National Meningitis Association by following the below link to make a donation toward Mike's race and the NMA.
